Scorhill Stone Circle at Sunrise

from £30.00

Scorhill Stone Circle at sunrise.

An early morning , on the open moor at Gidleigh near Chagford on the north-eastern side of Dartmoor in Devon.

Often called Dartmoor's finest stone circle, Scorhill is a Bronze Age monument of tall, lichened granite standing stones, unusual in having escaped the heavy-handed Victorian 'restoration' that reshaped so many others.

Around thirty stones remain of a ring that may once have held twice as many. Here they catch the first light of the day, Kestor on the horizon beyond.

A fine art photograph of one of Devon's most atmospheric prehistoric sites.

One of my many trips out to Scorhill - I enjoy visiting in different weather and season, finding more interesting and often undiscovered spots

Printed to order on your choice of museum-grade Enhanced Matte or Hahnemuhle German Etching fine art paper, then sent direct with free UK delivery. Composed for a 3:2 ratio and trimmed very slightly to fit A sizes. Room images are shown framed for illustration only; the frame is not included with an unframed print.

I'm a UK based photographer, so my print sizes are geared to the home market (A4, A3 and A2, to fit standard UK and European frames). That doesn't mean other sizes aren't available. Just ask.
