Some dull stuff
First off - if you want a photography session with me, here are a few reasons why the packages are more expensive than before, and why certain stipulations apply.
There’s a deposit (non refundable if you bail, but deducted from the final bill if you turn up) because I regularly spend great amounts of time working out locations - building costumes, confidence and generally using energy to make a shoot work … only to have people bail on me, ghost me or continually mess me about. This isn’t supposition, this isn’t fanciful artistic temperament, this is fact, borne out of evidence, pure and simple.
I’ve had other’s (some supposed professionals in their field) think that I’m too expensive, and this was when I was most definitely undercharging (and knowingly so, AND pointing out I was doing a favour).
The first example of this came from a person who I had taken photos of their child. This person was a photographer and approached my to take some photographs of them for their new partner - in a river. I asked for £75 for basically 4 hours work (minimum) they weren’t interested. Wouldn’t have been so bad if they weren’t a photographer themselves (and in my personal opinion, not a very good one) … but, then again, what do I know?
If you’d like to know what I know … I know that even people who like my work have sometimes zero taste … never, just never check what else these people enjoy on social media 🤣
