This notice explains what personal information I collect through this website, why, who else sees it, and your rights under UK data protection law. I am Paul Harris, trading as Glavind Strachan Photography, and I am the person responsible for your data. Contact:
What I collect, and why
- When you buy a print: your name, delivery address, email address, what you ordered and any gift note you write. I need this to take payment, make and post your print, send confirmations and keep my accounts. The legal basis is that it is necessary to carry out the contract with you, and to meet legal obligations.
- When you email me or book a walk or portrait session: your name, email address and whatever you tell me, so I can reply and arrange it.
I do not collect payment card numbers: they go straight to Stripe. I do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who else receives it
- Stripe takes your payment and sees your payment details and billing information.
- Prodigi, the print lab, receives your name and delivery address so they can make and post your order, and they pass it to the courier.
- My email and hosting providers, who store messages and the website's data on my behalf.
These companies handle your data only to provide their service and under their own data protection terms. Some may process data outside the UK under approved safeguards. I do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Order records are kept for as long as the law requires for business accounts, normally six years. Emails and enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful, and then deleted.
Cookies
This site uses only the small cookie the website needs to work (for example, to keep you signed in or remember your rucksack of favourite pictures). I do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If I add visitor statistics in future, I will say so here first. Stripe's secure payment page sets its own cookies, described on Stripe's site.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it (except where I must keep it by law), or object to how I use it. Email me and I will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
