Print Information

This is a holding article: It does give you a fairly good idea of the process though - feel free to drop me a line if you’re interested in a print. It’s just me, no marketing department, no advertising budget, no dispatch unit 🤣

Previous attempts to sell my work as prints means that I have now taken the decision to price my work at a level which I believe is reasonable, whilst providing me enough profit to actually make the whole process worthwhile.

This all, of course, depends upon enough people actually ordering my work.

I once tried to sell prints at reasonably low prices in the hope that the numbers ordered would compensate me for all the uploading, marketing, graphic design, packing, posting etc etc … this didn’t happen.

Then I tried the “price your work at it’s worth” approach - basically, making it more expensive and therefore exclusive.

Now, I don’t know about you, but if I know people do this, don’t other people?

Anyway, not put off by this logic, I checked out the work of other photographers (local and national) and priced mine at a level less than the very best were charging, a little more than the terrible ones

At a level that I hoped made it possible for both purchaser and artist to be happy.

Again, pretty much no movement

Of course, I freely acknowledge that I do not spend any money whatsoever on advertising, I refuse to pander to marketing trends and I’d also started a full time job.

So, here’s the current deal.

My most recent prints have been provided by a drop shipping company.

I have ordered directly from them and each work is exemplary, and those who have purchased and received prints from them have all been very happy.

The problem with this came with the privatisation of Royal Mail - it’s got better over the last few months, but many printers (dropshipping abroad) obviously got bored of things going missing and struggling to claim compensation - I’ve experienced this process and it’s (at best) disheartening, and, at worst, design exclusively to make you just give up trying!

From now on, each order will come only to me.

I will then decide where to have it printed.

It may be on my own printer, or it might be ordered from one of the three printing companies that I have used in the past and have nothing but praise for their work.

These prints will come to me, be checked and then sent to you, the customer.

Borders etc can be discussed, as can formats.

I advertise A4, A3 and A2, but other sizes can be arranged.

This means that I give no guarantees about delivery times. It does however mean I can customise postage for people who are abroad, or who require a specific service.

Some people wish their prints to be signed (no idea why, I’m hardly going to suddenly become collectable, unless someone plans on bumping me off!)

I can sign prints if that’s what you want.
